About Us
Our large group was estblished in 1982, when we opened
our first shop in Wendover, Buckinghamshire, which is still going
strong and remains one of our busiest salons.
The founder of the business, Karen Waldron, started barbering as an
inexperienced 17 year old, working in a 'spit and sawdust' baber shop in
Oxford. As one of the very first females to enter into this male dominated
world, Karen could clearly see a gap in the market for a luxurious and
comfortable, yet masculine, haircutting experience that was "men's own" as opposed
to the traditional unisex approach.
Men were seeking, and continue to seek, an enjoyable and relaxing haircut or shave, in a comfortable environment, as far removed from the perming lotions and colourings of the unisex shop, as it is from the impersonal experience of some of the traditional barber shops.
The key ingredients were always likely to be value for money, efficiency and an enjoyable overall experience.
Karen introduced her pet parrot, a Macaw named Sam, into the shop. He proved very popular with staff and customers alike and generated wide press coverage, both locally and nationally, under the heading "lovely birds in barbers"! As a result, the parrot became the firms official mascot and many others have since been introduced to a number of the other salons.
